Tony DeAngelo was traded from Carolina Hurricanes with round 7 pick in the 2022 draft (Alexis Gendron) to the Philadelphia Flyers for round 4 pick in the 2022 draft (Simon Forsmark), round 3 pick in the 2023 draft and round 2 pick in the 2024 draft this past offseason.
While he had a bit of a dramatic path in the NHL so far, there is no doubt that this kid possess an elite skill set. He is currently 4th on the Flyers in points so far this season, scoring 4 goals and 14 points in 26 games.
He has been battling a few injuries this season, which kept him out of a few games, and we've also seen him as a healthy scratch after head coach John Tortorella said he was having some troubles in his own zone.
But today ESPN's Greg Wyshynsky reported that DeAgenlo has been taken off the Flyers man roster and added to Non-Roster status due to personal reasons.
While the reasoning is unknown, this believes to be the main reason DeAngelo has stepped away.
Our sincerest condolences to the DeAngelo family.
