RUMOR: GM Brad Treliving Gives William Nylander's Agent Permission To Talk With Other Teams
A rumor is circulating that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving has given William Nylander's agent, Lewis Gross, permission to speak with other teams.
Nylander's Agent Given Permission To Speak With Other Teams?
Recently, Eklund of HockeyBuzz.com revealed a circulating rumor stating that William Nylander's agent, Lewis Gross, was permitted to speak with the Anaheim Ducks.
"While they aren't likely to eat cap money, they could take on salary, which is why there are rumblings that Anaheim may have been permitted to talk to the agent of the Leafs' William Nylander... It is widely known that Nylander would like to play for the Kings in SoCal...you can still live in Manhattan Beach if you are a Duck...is this an option for Nylander?"
As it stands, Nylander leads the Leafs with 46 points through 32 games and is showing no signs of slowing down. However, he is currently not extended which has led to anxiety about if he will do so at all.
What Nylander Would Bring To Anaheim
Nylander would instantly become the Ducks' best player and be slotted on their first line. As it stands, the Ducks' most productive player is Mason McTavish, the 3rd overall pick from the 2021 draft, who has scored 24 points through 27 games. Nylander would instantly elevate McTavish's game and have the potential for great chemistry with him down the road.
On top of a potential link with McTavish, Nylander would also likely emerge as a mentor for 2023 2nd overall pick Leo Carlsson. Carlsson currently has 15 points through 23 games but is out with an injury for a few more weeks. He would likely lean on Nyander, a fellow Swede, for advice and fellowship.
With Nylander, the Ducks would have a bonafide top-line of McTavish-Carlsson-Nylander which could dominate for years to come. It is unknown what the Ducks would have to give up to get him but they may have to give nothing up if the Leafs lose Nylander to free agency.
