There are currently reports circulating on social media that both the Russian and Czechia World Juniors teams were ejected from a flight set to travel from Calgary to Frankfurt. There are currently multiple accounts tweeting about the same incident and one account who has verified the delay of this specific flight.
Twitter user @DrScherf sent out the following tweet:
According to this account the Russian team was not following rules, attempting to smoke and being unruly. These reports were substantiated by another account with very similar details.
This would not be the first time a Russian Juniors team was kicked off of a flight. In 2011 about 30 members of team Russia were removed from a Delta flight as they were unruly during boarding.
According to people on board Team Finland was able to remain in the plane and did take the flight back home while the two other teams remained in Calgary.
