Saying Roman Josi is having a good season is a severe understatement. Josi through 70 games this season has scored 87 points, which is 12 points more than anyone else on the Nashville Predators and ranks him 1st in the NHL in defence scoring and 10th in overall scoring.

For a defenceman to be in the top 10 for scoring is incredible and not heard of very often.

So what is it that Josi could accomplish this season that has only been done once in history? Well, currently Josi is on pace for a 100 point season. He will need to score 13 points in his final 10 games of the season to reach this number. Scoring 100+ points as a defenceman has only happened 14 times in the NHL.

Bobby Orr - 6 times
Paul Coffey - 5 times
Al McInnis - 1 time
Brian Leetch - 1 time
Dennis Potvin - 1 time

So Josi could join this elite group of NHL offensive defenceman in the 100 point club, but the real impressive stat is, only once has a defenceman scored 100 points, and a forward on the team not scored 100+ points as well. The only time this has happened was in the 1969-70 season where Bobby Orr scored 120 points and Phil Esposito finished the season with only 99.

Josi could be the first to accomplish this in the last 50 years, and he definitely doesn't have a Phil Esposito to pass the puck to.
