One of the most actives teams in free agency this year has been Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings. They've already signed; Andrew Copp, David Perron, Dominik Kubalik, Ben Chiarot, Olli Maata, Mark Pysyk and traded for goaltender Ville Husso.

Yzerman and the Wings mean business next year and it doesn't appear that he is close to being done either.

Apparently Steve Yzerman is working on signing one of the best free agents left available. At the time of writing, it appears the Detroit Red Wings are the favourites to sign Dallas Stars veteran offensive defenceman John Klingberg.

Klingberg is a great offensive defenceman who priced his way out of Dallas. The 29 year old defenceman has had multiple 40+ point seasons and has a career high of 67 points, which would be a welcome addition to any blueline.

According to Jeff Marek of Sportsnet the star rear-guard may be closing in on his decision, and it's sounding like it might be with the Detroit RedWings.

Klingberg, 29, has played his entire career in Dallas, but was unable to come to terms on a new contract with the only team he's ever known. In 74 games with the stars last season, he had 6 goals and 41 assists for 47 points.
