There's a un-written rule in hockey among the 32 general managers and that's that no teams will try to take other teams players via offer sheet. However that rule has kinda been opened up after the Montreal Canadiens former General Manager Marc Bergevin tried to take Carolina Hurricanes super star Sebastian Aho with a 8 year deal via offer sheet.

The Carolina Hurricanes would match the offer and pay the Canadiens back by taking Habs Center Jesperi Kotkaniemi with an offer sheet. The Canadiens didn't match the offer and instead they traded the draft picks they got as compensation from the Hurricanes to aquire center Christian Dvorak from the Arizona Coyotes.

However the Canadiens new GM Kent Hughes is debating on using the offer sheet tactic to acquire Center Pierre-Luc Dubois from the Winnipeg Jets. The Canadiens have been wanting Dubois since before he was drafted.

It was rumoured that the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers were going to make a blockbuster deal trading PK Subban to the Edmonton Oilers for prospect Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers 4th overall pick if Dubois was still available.

Unfortunately the Columbus Blue Jackets broke that deal up taking Pierre-Luc Dubois 3rd overall, the Oilers would then draft Jesse Puljujarvi. Fast forward to now the Canadiens are rebuilding and Kent Hughes is rumoured to want to bring Dubois to Montreal again will it work this time for the Canadiens?
