This past offseason, Tony DeAngelo made history becoming the first player in NHL history to be bought out two times.
The first time he was bought out was with the New York Rangers after he got into a fight with goaltender Alexander Georgiev.
He was then again bought out by the Flyers earlier this offseason after a year where he struggled posting 42 points in 70 games as an offensive defenseman.
After both buyouts, DeAngelo signed a contract with the Carolina Hurricanes.
DeAngelo succeeded when he was with Carolina in 2021-22, so much in fact that he could not reach a contract agreement with the Hurricanes so they traded him to Philadelphia for three picks.
Today, he was asked why he struggled in Philadelphia. He was blunt with his response pinning it on Flyers coach John Tortorella.
Tortorella is known for being very rigid in his ways as a person and as a coach so it is not too surprising how he and the polarizing DeAngelo did not mesh well.
Overall, that part of DeAngelo's career is over and he will look to help Carolina get past their third-round hump.
