The Vancouver Canucks had a disappointing end to their season and now have been linked to a massive offseason trade by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.

Heading into the NHL trade deadline rumors surrounding superstar forward Elias Pettersson being traded picked up quite a bit. While the trade ultimately fell through there were legitimate discussions. Now after a poor playoff performance from Elias Pettersson trade talks are beginning again.

Playoff stats:

JT Miller: 13GP / 12P / .92ppg

Elias Pettersson: 13GP / 6P / .46ppg

Pettersson's numbers are very concerning against top teams. He'll need to work heavily on leg/core strength + speed/power skating this off season to compete at the highest level

It was confirmed after their playoff loss that Elias Pettersson had been dealing with a major injury for months that impacted his performance.

Now heading into the offseason trade rumors involving Elias Pettersson have already begun again. This time sending him to Carolina in a potential swap for Martin Necas. It sounds as though the Vancouver Canucks have a major interest in Martin Necas and multiple avenues of pursuing him.

EF says Necas was in a potential Petterson to CAR deal. Also wonders if #Canucks are still interested in Necas. Wonders about a Hronek for Necas swap type of deal

EF has heard on Kotkaniemi, that other teams including VAN are interested should he be made available

The offseason has still barely begun for many teams in the NHL. As the NHL Draft draws closer there will likely be a flurry of moves potentially involving these two teams. As the chaos begins make sure to check back here for all the latest news and notes.
