Patrik Laine linked to Canadian franchise via potential trade
Patrik Laine looks to be on his way out of Columbus this upcoming offseason and the Montreal Canadiens are among the top potential suitors for the sniper.
Since being drafted 2nd overall in 2016, Patrik Laine has proved to have one of the most lethal shots in the world. However, he has struggled lately and had a down year with the Columbus Blue Jackets scoring only six goals in 18 games all year.
Recently a trade proposal has emerged from former Montreal Canadiens scout Grant McCagg that could see the Finnish winger land up north.
What could be a fair trade for Patrik Laine?
@grantmccagg: "If Struble or Harris wasn't enticing enough along with a first round pick, the next logical step would be Mailloux. I'd consider that"
Laine has a pricy cap hit of $8,700,000 but when he is on his game, he is among the best in the NHL and well worth the money.
Jayden Struble and Jordan Harris are two young defensemen that look like impact players for years to come on any team's middle pairing. Logan Mailloux is quite a controversial prospect in his own regard but is one of the best defensive prospects in the Canadiens system that many see upside in.
At the end of the day, Laine is in need of a change of scenery and Montreal may have what it takes to bring him in.
