After months of rumors and drama, Jacob Trouba's time with the Rangers has officially come to an end.
Just over an hour ago, the Rangers completed a deal for their captain, sending him to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a 4th round pick and defenseman Urho Vaakanainen.
It sounds like Anaheim was far from the only team in on the former Rangers captain though.
In the immediate aftermath of the trade, we have seen lots of information suddenly pour out from across the hockey world, including from Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Don Waddell.
Waddell went on the Donnie and Dhali show today where he confirmed he was one of the teams that had discussions with the Rangers regarding Trouba.
It seems like Trouba himself had something to say about those trade negotiations.
According to a report from the Athletic writer Aaron Portzline, Trouba actually had to use his partial no-trade clause to reject a deal that would have sent him to Columbus.
This may come as a surprise to many fans considering the tax differences between Ohio and California, but at the end of the day, most people would probably prefer to live in southern California.
ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan gave us the full scoop on Trouba, revealing more teams that were in the sweepstakes.
According to her, the Red Wings, Senators, Sabres, and Blue Jackets all expressed interest in addition to the Ducks.
We will just have to see how this move plays out. Are the Ducks actually pushing for the playoffs this early in the season?
What comes next for the Rangers? Surely, this is a precursor to another move, right?
How will Trouba play with his new team? Will he have a late-career resurgence? All of this and more to come in the coming weeks.
