Quinn Hughes the newest captain of the Vancouver Canucks has begun pushing for the Canucks to acquire former Canuck and rival defenseman Chris Tanev from the Calgary Flames.
The belief is the Canucks would want a dedicated stay at home defenseman to play alongside of the offensive powerhouse of Quinn Hughes. The reports have said Hughes wants Tanev as his defensive partner.
The Flames are in a retool/rebuild era and are looking for good prospects in return.
The Canucks have been pushing to trade both Conor Garland and Anthony Beauvillier to the Flames but that is not cutting it for the Flames desire.
Like the Toffoli trade the Flames are looking for a young player that is ready to play in their lineup right away, the name on the Canucks you could bet they are looking at is Nils Hoglander.
Tanev is most certainly done playing in Calgary as he has rejected every contract offer the Flames have sent his way. The Flames desire is to send him to the Eastern Conference so they don't have to play him as much.
As Seen on NHL Rumors - NHL Rumors: The Flames looking to deal Tanev east, while the Canucks interested in the west
