Toronto Maple Leafs linked to a blockbuster trade with the Calgary Flames
Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving is reportedly targeting one of his former goaltenders from the Calgary Flames, Jacob Markstrom, for a blockbuster trade.
This past season the Toronto Maple Leafs had one glaring hole all year. When goaltender Joseph Woll was not healthy, the team relied on Ilya Samsonov and Martin Jones, both of which struggled at times.
With the offseason approaching, the Leafs could be looking at bolstering their goaltending by adding Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames, Brad Treliving's old team.
Friedman names the New Jersey Devils, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Ottawa Senators as potential trade partners for Calgary to acquire Jacob Markstrom.
In addition to the Leafs being listed, the New Jersey Devils and Ottawa Senators are also potential suitors for the Swedish netminder. The one big advantage the Senators and Devils have over the Leafs is being able to potentially part with a top 10 pick in the 2024 NHL draft with the Senators picking 7th and the Devils picking 10th.
We will wait and see what happens over the course of the offseason but with a netminder of Markstrom's caliber hitting the trade block, many teams will certainly be calling on his availability.
