Dating back to the start of the 2023/24 NHL season, rumors have swirled about Trevor Zegras in Anaheim, and after so much speculation, all signs are pointing to a potential trade.
That is the feeling that NHL analyst Stu Grimson has revealed on the NHL Network recently, predicting that GM Pat Verbeek isn't likely excited about the prospect of having Trevor Zegras as one of his building blocks.
In recent months, the talented young star has been linked to the likes of the New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens, and Calgary Flames among others, and with the addition of Cutter Gauthier alongside Leo Carlsson and Mason MacTavish, Zegras' role in Anaheim is now unclear.
In 2023/24, Zegras struggled for the first time in his NHL career, netting just 6 goals and 15 assists in 31 games as he dealt with injuries, and with other players emerging, it may hurt his future as a Duck.
He may be one of the league's most exciting players, but GM Verbeek prefers players that play a strong, hard-nosed, two-way game, and that just isn't Zegras' style, so don't be shocked if he has a new home before the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
