Coyotes Owner's Cheapness May Have Cost The Team Everything After Major Report
The Arizona Coyotes have long been the laughing stock of the NHL. The team is finally facing possible relocation and the latest report seems to indicate that relocation may be even more likely than we thought.
Coyotes Owner Balks At Land Auction Jeopardizing Team In Arizona
It seems as though the NHL is waiting on the Coyotes to present adequate plans for a new building and site somewhere in Arizona. In turn, the Coyotes are waiting for a land auction to be completed so they can secure the land they need. However, the process may be forced to start all over again according to the latest report.
Here is what my source has told me is fact:
The Coyotes applied for the land auction several months ago. They wanted 200 acres. The appraisal came in too high for Yotes bank account. They cut application in half, to 100 acres. Land Department has to redo review.
Apparently, the team was initially planning on a 200-acre lot. Instead, they will settle for a 100 acre lot after the initial price was too much for Alex Meruelo to stomach. However, this means that the team will have to wait through the entire land auction process again. Whether or not the league has the patients for this remains to be seen.
Latest Holdup The Final Straw For Coyotes In Arizona?
NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported recently that the NHL will be making an announcement regarding the future of the Coyotes within a few weeks, if not as early as this weekend.
The timing with this latest issue may not just be a coincidence. At the same time, Kevin Weekes made a post with a picture of Salt Lake City, hinting at the possibility that the Coyotes will in fact, relocate there.
My bet is a Coyotes relocation announcement. Hopefully they change the name too, but regardless of what happens, I'm all in on it
The Coyotes seemingly countered with an a post of their own, stating that they would be making an announcement about the team's future soon.
An announcement with our plan to stay in Arizona will be coming out soon. We have narrowed our list of sites down & remain extremely bullish that we will have a resolution on our home in the desert soon. Nobody wants to get this done more than us. As @jimcramer would say.. BUY BUY BUY
Hopefully, all of this will be cleared up soon. Stay tuned for updates on this story as they could have serious implications for the Coyotes.
