The top prospect of the Calgary Flames, Zayne Parekh, got himself in some hot water when he made a late hit and then followed that up by spearing a fan in the crowd.

In one of the recent games, Zayne Parekh gave a late hit, which caused him to be ejected. Coming out of the ice and towards the dressing room, there are reports that Parekh jabbed a fan with his stick. The incident has come to the forefront and calls for immediate attention with possible disciplinary action in question.

In this regard, Parekh's behavior from a disciplinary point of view is pretty close to what happened to Zachary L'Heureux, an ice hockey winger when he was in the QMJHL. Since this player was known for playing aggressively, suspensions piled up against him nine times for high-sticking, unsportsmanlike conduct, and altercations.

One of the most notable suspensions of L'Heureux came this February, where he was suspended for 10 games in a very controversial incident: while leaving the ice, L'Heureux jabbed his stick through a gap in the glass panes of a player tunnel in the direction of opposing fans. An alleged jab hit a 16-year-old fan, although fortunately the fan was not hurt.

Considering all these similarities, speculations have arisen about Parekh receiving a punishment similar to that of L'Heureux. The league views any incident in which fan safety is involved very seriously, and Parekh's actions could bring about an investigation that could possibly see him being suspended.

This incident reminded us that there are times when discipline and professionalism need to be maintained, no matter how frustrating those moments might get. If found guilty, Zayne Parekh will have to face serious repercussions that will dent his reputation and, quite possibly, his future in the sport.
