Back in 2020, the Carolina Hurricanes selected Seth Jarvis of the WHL, and it's turned out to be one of the organization's best moves in recent years, as his 2023/24 campaign saw him blossom into one of the league's brightest young stars. At just 22 years of age, the winger tallied an impressive 33 goals and 67 points in 81 games played, and now he's up for a potentially huge new deal.
According to reports, that deal could make him very wealthy, with David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period revealing that the two sides have been talking about a new deal that would pay him $7.5 million AAV over the next 'seven or eight' years.
Unfortunately for the Canes, they've got less than $6.5 million currently remaining on their salary cap, meaning that if they do look for a long-term deal with Jarvis, they would need to move out some salary. Any move would be worth it however, as the 22-year-old has become an absolute star for this team, and if they are to be contenders for years to come, he is someone that needs to be in their lineup.
With good size, a two-way game, and the desire to be a Hurricane, there's no better player to be a part of this organization for a long time to come, so don't be surprised if we get a deal done before the 2024/25 campaign officially begins.
