The 25-year-old is entering his 6th full season in the NHL next year. So far he has gotten into 362 career games and put up 97 goals and 243 points. He set career highs in the 2022-23 season when he scored 28 goals and had 71 points overall. This past season he took a step back with just 24 goals and 53 points, although he did get less ice time per game as well. According to LeBrun, the Hurricanes are asking too much for Necas, so teams may very well be considering an offer sheet.
According to Evolving Hockey, Necas is projected to get a seven-year contract with an average-annual-value of around 7.5 million dollars. An offer sheet in that range would require a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick as compensation for the Hurricanes.
According to CapFriendly, 13 teams currently have the picks needed to offer sheet Necas. They are the Sabres, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Kings, Wild, Canadiens, Predators, Islanders, Flyers, Kraken, Blues, Utah, and the Capitals. Note that the picks required would be for the 2025 NHL draft, and they all must be the team's own picks, not picks in the same round that they acquired from another team.
Offer Sheets are certainly rare, but the Hurricanes always seem to be involved in them somehow. Be sure to stay tuned to the team this summer as they figure out what to do with the budding 25-year-old star.
