Despite posting 5 goals and 19 points in 25 games this season, Connor Bedard has flown under the radar thus far in 2024/25, with many fans and analysts expecting much more from the former No. 1 overall draft pick.
That frustration appears to be getting to the 19-year-old, as he was caught on hot-mic during a recent matchup with the Detroit Red Wings, calling out Patrick Kane after he was called for tripping.
While he didn't say that to Kane himself, rather the official who informed him that he was being sent to the penalty box, this was a bold move from the young forward who still has plenty to learn and plenty of respect to earn at the NHL level.
When looking at the footage, it was a clear trip from Bedard, who was in the middle of a poor stretch of games, as seven of nine games around that matchup with the Red Wings saw him tally no points.
However, No. 98 has four points over his past four games as he appears to be finding his footing once more, with the 2023 No. 1 overall pick expected to take a leap forward after tallying 61 points and a Calder Trophy in his rookie campaign.
There's still plenty of time left for him to turn things around this year, but after complaining about this obvious tripping call, we will certainly have our eyes glued to the screen when they face off against Kane and the Red Wings next time.
