Authorities identified the 16-year-old boy who died from injuries sustained in a car accident late Sunday evening in Todd County. The victim has been named as 16-year-old Aaron Cheadle.
Aaron Cheadle was a sophomore forward for the Prairie Centre North Stars. He was a player who put his best effort game in and game out. He played his first varsity game just last week and had such a bright future ahead of him.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened just before 9:50 p.m. on Highway 71 near 150th Street in Little Sauk Township. It was not until late Monday afternoon, that authorities identified the teenager who died as Aaron Cheadle of Browerville.
Cheadle was driving a Ford Taurus northbound on Highway 71 when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree. According to the crash report, roads were slick with snow and ice at the time of the incident. No other vehicles were involved.
Condolences go out to his family, teammates, coaches, classmates, friends, and extended family. This is no doubt going to be a difficult road ahead, but the entire hockey community will be rallying behind everyone affected.
This is a reminder to everyone to take it slow on the roads when conditions are bad, and try to be as cautious and safe as possible when driving. Everyone's safety is of utter importance.
