Tyler Bertuzzi signs a new contract with an original six rival
It was announced today that Tyler Bertuzzi will be leaving the Toronto Maple Leafs to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks on a four-year deal that pays him handsomely.
Insider David Pagnotta shared this morning that the Chicago Blackhawks and Tyler Bertuzzi have come to an agreement that brings him to the windy city.
Bertuzzi's 4-year deal with Chicago will come with a $5.5M AAV
This is a slight overpay according to AFP Analytics who projected Bertuzzi to get a four-year deal coming in at just under $5.3 million.
Bertuzzi will now be playing with Connor Bedard and could slot in on the first line next year before getting demoted over the course of the contract to the middle six role that he held in Toronto.
This is an unfortunate loss for the Maple Leafs but they do have young prospects coming into the system and are expected to have more rookies next year. An official announcement is expected after noon today EST from the Chicago Blackhawks.
