After the St. Louis Blues shocked the NHL and signed Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway away from the Edmonton Oilers, the fans have been excited at the potential for more offer sheets, and with many great RFA' s still left unsigned, there is definitely a possibility.
Jeremy Swayman and Seth Jarvis are two names who come to mind when talking about the best RFA's still left unsigned, but the most intriguing case might be Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond, who had a breakout season last year at just 22 years old.
Detroit has around $17 million in cap space left to sign both Raymond and Moritz Seider, and while it's reported that the Wings and Seider are closing in on a deal, the news around Raymond hasn't been quite as positive, with the two sides still seeming far apart in negotiations.
The Sabres have an opportunity to swoop in and offer sheet the Swedish forward, as with Jeff Skinner off the books they have the cap space to do it, and an exciting young core for Raymond to play with, the question is if they will actually do it.
Detroit is very high on Raymond, and would likely match any offer Buffalo gives him, but even overpaying Raymond by a little bit would force Steve Yzerman to make a very difficult decision, we'll just have to wait and see how the rest of the off-season plays out.
