Connor McDavid just shared that he was struggling with an abdominal injury during the entire playoffs and will likely undergo surgery this offseason.

After scoring 42 points over the Edmonton Oilers playoff run which saw them fall one game short of the Stanley Cup, Connor McDavid revealed that he was struggling with an injury so severe that he will need surgery probably.

"McDavid has played through an abdominal injury that likely requires surgery."

"The war of attrition took its toll on the Oilers. Head coach Kris Knoblauch didn't divulge any information Monday night after the loss, but both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have been playing through significant injuries, Oilersnation has learned. McDavid has played through an abdominal injury that likely requires surgery, while Draisaitl has been banged up too, I've been told. He's believed to be dealing with a broken rib and finger. It's nothing new for a laundry list of players to be dealing with injuries after deep playoff runs, and surely we'll hear of more in the coming days." - Oilers Nation

In addition to this, it was reported that Leon Draisaitl also was dealing with injuries to his finger and rib. His production fell off during the final scoring zero goals in the seven-game series.

This makes McDavid's performance that won him the Conn Smythe even more impressive as he was doing so while hurt. Now he will focus on rehabilitating this offseason and becoming as fresh as he can for the fall where he will look to take revenge on the Florida Panthers.
