Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers officially reach a record breaking agreement
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has reported that the Edmonton Oilers and Leon Draisaitl have an eight-year contract extension in place.
After a much-anticipated wait, it appears that we have reached the finish line between the Edmonton Oilers and Leon Draisaitl on a contract extension.
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the two sides are about to sign on the dotted lines, which will see Leon Draisaitl remain with the Oilers for the next eight years, and make him the highest-paid player in the NHL, with an AAV of $14 million.
Leon Draisaitl had a fantastic season last year, having played in 81 games and scoring 41 goals and 65 assists, for 106 points. He's played in 719 career games, all with the Oilers, and scored 347 goals and 503 assists for 850 points.
UPDATE: Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers agreed upon the $14 million AAV deal.
