The Stars are in need of help on their talented blue line, and according to a top insider, Rasmus Ristolainen may be a perfect trade target ahead of the deadline.

Rasmus Ristolainen has been a name on the trade block for much of the 2024/25 season, and with the 2025 trade deadline now just a few weeks away, it's highly likely that the Flyers move the veteran defenseman.

Despite the $5.1 million salary cap hit that carries through the next two seasons after this one, there's plenty of interest in the 30-year old, and now, one of the top teams in the Western Conference has been linked to him.

In his latest report, Frank Seravalli notes that the Dallas Stars could be an intriguing fit for Ristolainen, with one of the deepest teams in the NHL clearly having a hole they need to plug this year.

Currently, Ristolainen is day-to-day, but is expected to be fully healthy before the trade deadline and likely coming out of the Four Nations break, and with the bottom four pairings of the Stars lacking major experience and talent, it's a move that would make sense to land Ristolainen.

In 54 games this season, Ristolainen has two goals and 15 points, but on a struggling Flyers team he's put together a solid +3 differential, showing that he's the type of shut down defenseman the Stars could definitely use.

Ultimately, the salary cap hit may be a deterrent for several teams potentially looking to land Ristolainen, but with the Flyers motivated to move the 30-year old and several contenders wanting upgrades on the blue line, it appears to be just a matter of time until he's moved.
