2023/24 ended in dramatic fashion for the Maple Leafs, with the team starting their summer hot by moving on from Sheldon Keefe and adding former Stanley Cup winning Head Coach Craig Berube. They followed that up in free agency by re-signing Timothy Liljegren before adding Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anthony Stolarz, and Alex Nylander, with confidence among the fan base high as usual.
When asked about their off-season, NHL Network analyst and former Head Coach Bruce Boudreau, has sung the praises of Brad Treliving and the Maple Leafs.
Sure, their fans aren't happy with every single move, but they filled many gaps in their blue line while opening up room for their young players like Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten to push for a roster spot. In fact, Boudreau went as far as to say they had the best off-season of anyone in the highly competitive Atlantic Division, who should see no less than six teams pushing for a playoff spot in 2024/25.
With a few decisions left to make for Treliving and Berube, the job isn't done yet, especially with critical moves left to make at the deadline if they are as competitive as expected, but as of right now, people are taking notice of this intriguing team ahead of their Stanley Cup pursuit.
