The 2018 World Juniors scandal involving Team Canada rocked the hockey world, and while we are yet to hear an official verdict on the five players involved, their NHL careers are over for now. There was an expectation that they wouldn't be allowed to leave the country to play overseas, but now it's been announced that former Calgary Flames forward Dillon Dube will be the second player in the last week to ink a new deal in the KHL.
The 26-year-old is a native of Golden, British Columbia, and has so far played 325 games in his career with the Flames, but departed the team in controversial fashion after hiding the incoming charges by asking the team to take a mental health leave. This left an especially sour taste in the mouths of fans around the NHL, but unsurprisingly, the KHL is happy to welcome anyone into their ranks.
The players have yet to face court, so we do not know their fates at this point. However, for the time being, we will see McLeod and Dube continue their careers in Belarus with Dynamo Minsk.
