The Toronto Maple Leafs seemingly have a fan throw their jersey on the ice at least once a year, and now it's happened again in just the team's eighth game.

On Thursday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs were once again dominated, but this time it was the St. Louis Blues claiming victory, sending Toronto to 4-4-0 on the season with a convincing 5-1 victory. During the loss, several of the team's top stars failed to perform at a high level, and it's brought plenty of frustration to not only those involved but the fans as well.

During that loss, we once again saw the Maple Leafs fan tradition of throwing a jersey on the ice, and this season it took just eight games, showing how little patience some fans have for the game of hockey, especially on such a loaded, talented team that are still looking to find their feet.

Sure, posting a -8 differential in their last two games isn't ideal with their Head Coach berating their captain for his lazy play, but it's still only 8 games into the season, and after the play we've seen from Toronto early in the season over the past few years, this shouldn't be too big of a concern.

Unfortunately, we've seen this time and time again from Maple Leafs fans, as this story seemingly re-emerges every single year, and with such a loaded team in 2024/25, it's surprising that more patience isn't being given. With additions like Chris Tanev, Max Pacioretty, Anthony Stolarz, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, there was always going to be growing pains this year under Craig Berube, but if this team can steady themselves, there's no reason why we couldn't be talking about this team as a genuine Stanley Cup threat later in the year.
