An ex-Vancouver Canucks player blasted his former team over the J.T. Miller trade to the New York Rangers in an intervention on the Missin' Curfew podcast.

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin could keep making changes to his team, with many rumors suggesting the end of Elias Pettersson's time in Vancouver.

Because of the J.T. Miller trade, expectations for Pettersson are higher, and if he can't elevate his game, the organization is likely to do something about it.

Shane O'Brien, who played 537 NHL games between 2006 and 2014 for the Anaheim Ducks, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Vancouver Canucks, shared his thoughts about the situation on the Missin' Curfew podcast.

He talked about how the pressure is now on Elias Pettersson to perform, how the Canucks are a much "softer" team than they were, and what led to Miller's decision to finally accept waiving his no-trade clause.

In his own words:

"Because of a feud between two guys or whatever the hell happened, this hockey team has taken a step back. JT Millers don't grow on trees. Petey, your time is now, bud. Let's see what you can do. You got your way. It's now your hockey team."

"The Vancouver Canucks are the softest team in the National Hockey League now after getting rid of JT Miller.... You do not replace a JT Miller."

"Listen, from what I heard, he (Miller) finally had enough. So, to Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin, to do the right thing for JT Miller, I guess you got to commend them, right? I mean, he did have a full no-move. He wanted to go to New York..."

"But when you go on a pure hockey trade, this is a horrendous trade. The Vancouver Canucks are not going to come back from this. I feel bad for Rick Tocchet. I feel bad for every... Canucks fan that was so fired up last year. When we were there, they were one win away from taking out the Edmonton Oilers. They had so many great things going."

In four games with the Rangers, Miller scored four points, including two goals.

As for Pettersson, he hasn't recorded a point in his last three games.
