Sportsnet Reporter Mark Spector Calls Out Alex Ovechkin
Sportsnet reporter Mark Spector just had a pretty hot take on Alex Ovechkin, raining on the parade of his success over this season.
Mark Spector Rains on the Parade of Ovechkin Fans After 20th Goal
Alex Ovechkin is chasing one of the NHL records that many thought would never be broken, and that is Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal-scoring record. Ovechkin, who of course has played more games than Gretzky, is getting close to the mark. While he won't reach it this season, every goal gets him that much closer to the record.
Now, though, Mark Spector took to social media to rain on the parade a little bit. In his post, he asked why people were celebrating Ovi reaching the 20 goal mark in the season.
Are we really celebrating Ovechkin scoring his 20th goal of the season in mid-March?
Ovechkin is Doing Something Amazing and Fans Can Celebrate Whatever They Want
Ovechkin is doing something amazing here, and at his age, he deserves all the credit for getting 20 goals in a season. This is no small feat for a 38-year-old and only looks like a humble number due to Crosby's incredible production for his age.
It was pointed out that Ovechkin is outperforming Gretzky for his age, and what will be an amazing moment is when Ovechkin breaks the record for most goals in the NHL.
Fans will definitely have something to celebrate when that happens, and Spector won't be able to say a word.
