Matt Rempe drops the gloves during massive line brawl
The New Jersey Devils faced off against the New York Islanders, the game had hardly had a chance to start before a brawl broke out. It seems that as soon as the puck was dropped, the fighting began.
The following video shows the puck drop and the fight, but does not tell the entire story:
An alternative angle shows Curtis Lazar from the New Jersey Devils and Jimmy Vesey from the Islanders, having some sort of conversation while waiting for the face off. It is unknown what they told each other that prompted the fight.
NHL News reported that it was decided by the officials that, despite the confusion, it was Curtis Lazar and Jimmy Vesey who started the brawl.
Believe that's game misconducts for MacDermid, Bahl, Marino, Tierney (NJ); Rempe, Goodrow, Miller, Trouba (NYR).
Refs rule Lazar v Vesey started first, everyone else as secondary altercation
It seems that MacDermid, Bahl, Marino and Tierney weren't satisfied with the fight, and continued to bang on the glass after the fight was broken up.
