The NHL is hosting its second annual Frozen Frenzy night tonight, meaning all 32 teams in the league will be in action at some point today. The Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers kicked off the festivities with the first game of the day, leading off a big night for the league. The teams did not fail to disappoint fans early on as Nic Dowd created a huge moment early, scoring a short-handed goal to open the scoring for the game and the night.
Less than a minute later, Flyers forward Nic Deslauriers responded by challenging Capitals defenseman Dylan Mcllrath to a fight. It was a good tilt between the two heavyweights as they exchanged blows for nearly a minute before they both seemingly agreed to end it.
This will probably not be the last fight we see tonight as other players around the league will be looking to make the highlight real on this special night. However, infamous Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves seems like he's avoiding fights this season, so we may not see any action as the Leafs face the Columbus Blue Jackets. That being said, Reaves is back in the lineup tonight after being a healthy scratch against the Tampa Bay Lightning, so perhaps he will look to drop the gloves as a way of showing why he should stay in the lineup.
We are certainly going to see a lot of goals, hits, and drama tonight as every team takes the ice. Be sure to stay tuned in on ESPN+ to catch all the best moments tonight, including more fights which will almost certainly come.
