The Colorado Avalanche have been without Gabriel Landeskog for two years now, but it appears the veteran forward has absolutely no plans to retire.

Ever since the Colorado Avalanche hoisted the Stanley Cup back in 2022, the team has been without their captain Gabriel Landeskog, with many fearing he would never step back on the ice in the NHL again. The updates from Colorado this off-season have been much more promising however, and while he's yet to make his official return, the belief is that we will see Landeskog in an Avalanche uniform once more in 2024/25.

With very few updates in recent times, that return has a shadow of doubt cast upon it, but now the captain himself has spoken, firing back at a fan who told him it was time to retire.

Landeskog's response was simple;

Is it though?

While this doesn't tell us that his return is imminent, it's a good sign that Landeskog's plans to return to the NHL are on track, and even with the injuries, he is just 31 years of age and may potentially have years left in his career. With so many different injuries, the future is very hard to predict, but with the team needing their leader back, don't be shocked to see him on the ice at some point in 2024.

In his last full season, Landeskog posted 59 points in 51 games played, and although he may never be that same player again if he can even be 70% of that and bring his leadership, it will be a massive gain for this team. Colorado may be struggling early in the year, but with their captain's return on the horizon along with Artturi Lehkonen, Jonathan Drouin, Devon Toews, and Valeri Nichushkin, don't sleep on this team moving forward.
