The Columbus Blue Jackets won the star of free agency this year when they signed Johnny Gaudreau to a 7 year deal, and the hopes was that he would make some magic happen with the jackets young sniper Patrik Laine.
Laine broke onto the scene back in 2016 where he stole the show, scoring 36 goals in 73 games. Then he followed that year up with a 40 goal season, but unfortunately we haven't seen 40 goal Laine since, and it forced a trade out of Winnipeg to the Blue Jackets.
While his first season with the Jackets under John Tortorella was not very good, he rebounded last season very well, scoring 26 goals and 56 points in 56 games. People had very high hopes for 24 year old sniper this season, that is, until this unfortunate news.
Laine left the first game of the season with an injury and it looks like we wont be seeing him for a few weeks.
Patrik Laine will miss 3-4 weeks with an elbow sprain. He's been placed on injured reserve.
