The National Hockey League announced this season that they would be getting some electronic board advertisements to bring in more revenue for the league.
This didn't seem like a bad idea, as long as it didn't affect game play and it made more money for the league, so what could be the issue? Well, we found the issues already last night.
During the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks game last night the boards started to glitch and cover up the players which was definitely a distraction for the viewer. For a solid 5 minutes (while it might not seem like much) players were completely covered by the advertisements, and this is definitely enough for fans to start raising a stink.
See below:
I completely understand the league wanting to make more revenue, and if doing other things to bring in more, means we get to keep more ads off the precious jerseys longer, I am all for it, but this needs to be something that is tested far more to not interrupt the viewers attention and cause something like this.
It felt like you were in the middle of a poor video game with bad internet.
