Jonathan Toews is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, Olympic Gold Medalist, World Junior Gold Medalist, World Championship Gold Medalist and a World Cup Gold Medalist.
It's safe to say that when it comes to winning in hockey, Toews knows how to do it.
A few years ago now, Toews took a season off to deal with an unknown illness, and when he made his comeback last season, you could tell things were off. This season Toews has been playing very well, but he has been absent from practice for awhile, and it's now been announced why:
First of all, thank you to the fans and all those who have shown concern about my absence. Im still dealing with symptoms of long COVID and Chronic Immune Response Syndrome.
It has been really challenging to play through these symptoms. In the last few weeks, it has reached the point where I had no choice but to step back and concentrate on getting healthy. I am thankful for the patience and support of my teammates, the coaching staff and the entire Blackhawks organization.
Toews was a huge trade target this season, and now it looks like he will be finishing the season most likely in a Blackhawks uniform.
