The Tampa Bay Lightning were not happy with the way last season ended. The back-to-back Stanley Cup champions were hoping to make it a three-peat, but ran into a hungry Colorado Avalanche team who took them out in 6 games.

While the Bolts still have the core players in Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, Point, Sergachev, Killorn & Cirelli, they lost some major contributors in the offseason in Ryan McDonagh and Ondrej Palat.

Usually we see the Lightning go big at the trade deadline to bring in some talent to fill out their roster, but this season with limited cap space and lack of draft picks, they were only able to make one key move to bring in some depth.

That move was to bring in Tanner Jeannot, who plays a crucial role on their third line and would be very valuable come the playoffs.

The bad news though is Lightning head coach Jon Cooper announced today that we might not be seeing Jeannot for some time. Jeannot suffered a very rough looking injury the other day in a game versus the Islanders:

Bolts head coach Jon Cooper says Tanner Jeannot is «more than day-to-day. Hopefully he'll be back here at some point in the playoffs.»

When asked if he expects Jeannot to miss all of Round One, Cooper said, «I don't want to say that, but I don't expect him to play Game One.
