The legendary broadcaster and former host of Coaches Corner has been around for decades, and is absolutely loved by his fanbase.
When Cherry was fired from Hockey Night in Canada after his ''You People'' comments, he started his own podcast called "Grapevine" where he continues to talk about hockey, but unfiltered by networks.
Recently, he was recording one of his podcasts and he and his co-host Tim were talking about players who deserved to be nominated for the Norris Trophy.
While Don is well known for liking big, strong and hard hitting defenceman, he and his partner both believed that Dougie Hamilton deserves to be considered for the Norris this season after scoring a franchise record for the New Jersey Devils.
The 29 year old has scored 21 goals and 73 points in 80 games this season:
The issue that both Don and Tim had though is, both forgot what team Hamilton actually played for. Both believed that Hamilton was still a member of the Carolina Hurricanes, where he hasn't been since the end of the 2021 season.
Cherry went onto his Twitter account to apologize for the mistake:
Tim and I screwed up on the podcast today. We said Dougie Hamilton plays for the Canes, and as we all know he plays for the Devils. Oh well. What ever team he plays for he should be in the running for the Norris but not a word about him. pic.twitter.com/zp7ZvMtFTq Don Cherry (@CoachsCornerDC) April 9, 2023
