The Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson has been trying to trade away his top players for returns to help with a rebuild since he stated that the Blackhawks would be entering a rebuild back at the 2022 Trade Deadline.
With six weeks until the regular season, both Toews and Kane remain members of the Chicago Blackhawks. However, Kane and Toews have both admitted they do not want to stick around through a rebuild and hope to be moved.
According to Frank Seravelli of The Daily Faceoff that hasn't changed. Kane is still interested in seeing how the season begins before evaluating whether or not he'll accept a trade from the only franchise he's ever known. This situation seems to parallel that of
Claude Giroux very closely.
One thing that Seravelli did reveal that hadn't previously been mentioned was that Kane reportedly has 3 preferred destinations.
The teams Kane chose where the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With the preseason set to start in a month it will be interesting to see if any teams make a late push to add Kane and his Stanley Cup experience.
