Last night during game 3 of the Battle of Alberta, with just over 10 minutes to play, Mike Smith went behind his net to play the puck and Flames forward Milan Lucic bulldozed through him. Lucic was issued a 5 minute major penalty and a game misconduct on the play.
Today the NHL's Department of Player Safety has looked have the play and has made a decision of if there will be any supplementary discipline for Milan Lucic after his hit.
So there will be no supplementary discipline for Lucic. Do you think this is the right call? Lucic was chasing down the puck and looked to be going behind the net until Smith decided to fake him out and go back to the corner which then Lucic just ran right into him.
