The Colorado Avalanche won the 2022 Stanley Cup and while the big names players carried a big part of the load, the depth of the Avalanche last season is what finally got them over the top and into the promise land.
After the season they needed to let some players go and Nicolas Aube-Kubel was one of those players. Kubel signed a one year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs for $1,000,000 and people were hoping that he could finally be a scoring addition to the bottom lines of the Maple Leafs.
It was also rumoured that Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe was pushing for them to sign Aube-Kubel.
Now, less than a full month into the season, Chris Johnston reported that the Maple Leafs have put him on waivers after the Maple Leafs attempted to trade him and no team wanted him.
The #leafs made Nicolas Aubé-Kubel available via trade this week before placing him on waivers today.
He's been a frequent scratch of late.
