Coming into the first round of the playoffs, the Pittsburgh Penguins knew they were going to be without starting goalie Tristan Jarry for atleast round 1. Currently he has a (foot fracture) but is out of a walking boot. In the opening game of the series, the team also lost backup Casey DeSmith to an injury, forcing the Penguins 3rd goalie to come into action, Louis Domingue.

It is now announced that DeSmith will miss the remainder of the playoffs after having core muscle surgery this morning.

This means unless Tristan Jarry heals quickly, Louis Domingue is going to be the starting goalie for the Penguins for the remainder of round 1.

While Domingue looked good in game 1 coming in relief of DeSmith stopping all 17 shots he faced, to help the Penguins win in Overtime, that was not the case in game 2 as the New York Rangers were able to beat Domingue 5 times on 40 shots to register a .875 save percentage.

But in his defence, 40 shots is a lot for a goalie to face in a game! Perhaps he didn't have his spicy pork before this game?
