We are just 2 days away now from the start of the NHL Free Agency frenzy and one of the biggest names on the free agent market is Claude Giroux.
After the Philadelphia Flyers had a poor season last year, the Flyers ended up trading their long time captain to the Florida Panthers (after he chose to go there instead of Colorado) in hopes that this veteran could take another shot at a cup. He finished last season with 21 goals and 44 assists in 75 games.
This will be the first time in Giroux's career that he will be heading to free agency so with all the speculations going around, there are two favourites for Giroux to sign with. It appears that Giroux is interested in either returning to the Florida Panthers or going home to play for the Ottawa Senators.
#UPDATE - Giroux and the Panthers have not been able to make the money line up (so far). The next best option for Giroux might be Ottawa. The #GoSensGo are looking to follow their trade for Debrincat with a big splash in FA. [@reporterchris via northstarbets]
If the Panthers are seriously interested in Giroux to return, they still have some time before Wednesday to get him under contract before other teams get their chance, but they need to work fast as free agent day is coming fast!
