With under 15 seconds to play in the 1st period between the Washington Capitals and Vancouver Canucks, the faceoff was won by the Canucks in their own zone, which was carried out by Quinn Hughes who dumped it into the Capitals Zone.
Darcy Kuemper then went to play the puck, completely whiffed on it and allowed Canucks Elias Pettersson to bury the puck in an empty net to tie the game at 1.
Darcy Kuemper whiffed on the puck and Elias Pettersson just scored into an empty net with 7.3 seconds left in the first. Puck took a short hop over Kuemper's stick.
