Ovechkin currently at 741 scoring at a rate of .613 goals per game
Backstrom currently at 722 assists, racking them up at .714 assists per game.
If Backstrom comes back from injury next game, going by the above numbers, it would take Ovechkin 97 more games to reach 800 goals, and Backstrom 109 more games to reach 800 assists.
Will Backstrom & Ovechkin go down as one of the best duos in history? Is there a better duo ever?
If they both reach 800, they would be the only duo in history to reach 800 goals and other 800 assists with one franchise.
The only other teammates who came close were:
*Gordie Howe: 786 goals
*Alex Delvecchio: 825 assists
with the Detroit Red Wings.
