This morning we learned the news that Hall of famer, Montreal Canadiens legend passed away at the age of 70.

Lafleur was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 after a cancerous spot was found on his lung as he was having a quadruple bypass heart surgery. He would have surgery to remove the cancerous spots but unfortunately the cancer returned in October 2020.

Don Cherry was a former coach of Lafleur who he also considers a good friend.

In 1978 Lafleur and the Habs eliminated Cherry's Bruins in 6 games in the finals and in 1979, Lafleur and the Habs eliminated the Boston Bruins in the semi finals in 7 games.

The Flower played parts of 17 NHL seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques, recording 560 goals and 793 assists in 1,126 games.

He won the Stanley Cup with the Habs in 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, the Hart Trophy in 1977 and 1978, the Conn Smythe in 1977, the Art Ross in 1976, 1977 and 1978, the Lester B. Pearson Award in 1976, 1977, and 1978 and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
