NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has just revealed why Patrick Kane will sign with the Eastern Conference and is not entertaining any Western Conference offers.

Kane Reportedly Not Interested in the Western Conference Due To Travel Requirements

Patrick Kane remains unsigned, despite being expected to have a deal done at some point in November. While Buffalo is the leading contender to land Kane this season, the lack of movement has sparked further speculation about where he will land.

Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Kane is not interested in signing with a team in the Western Conference, due to the travel requirements.

The teams that I consistently hear about are Eastern teams, I think there is a concern about what the West and travel will do to him. I think there are teams in the West that are interested.

It's obvious that there are teams in the West that could use Kane's skills, teams like the Edmonton Oilers who need a spark to turn their season around. However, it looks like they won't get the time of day due to the amount of travel required in the conference.

Kane to Buffalo Looks More Likely With Each Passing Day

The current leading candidates for Patrick Kane have been rumoured to be the Buffalo Sabres, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Florida Panthers. Kane signing in Buffalo appears to be the most likely, as it is his hometown.

Friedman on NHL Network says he believes Florida, Detroit and Buffalo are the 3 leading contenders for Patrick Kane.

There's only one correct choice to @ryanwhitney6 for Patrick Kanecome back home to Buffalo.

Kane is on the verge of the end of his career, and ending it in his hometown is a story not unlike what other NHL stars have done. Buffalo, also in the Eastern conference, has confirmed their interest in Kane.

The only remaining question is whether or not Buffalo is offering the contract that Kane is looking to sign. We will see if that materializes in the coming weeks.
