Last night, another QMJHL player had to be stretchered off the ice after being injured in a game between the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Cape Breton Eagles.

It seems reports of major injuries come around often this season. Two weeks after the Gatineau Olympiques player Justin Blais suffered a massive injury that left him convulsing on the ice, another QMJHL player was severely hurt.

Samuel Kupec, an 18-year-old defenseman from Slovakia who plays in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, received a dangerous hit from Cape Breton Eagles forward Angelo Fullerton.

Kupec had to be stretchered off the ice after being unable to move for 10 minutes after the hit. As for Fullerton, he was ejected from the game.

The reporter Mikael Lalancette shared details on X:

"Another QMJHL player was taken off on a stretcher tonight, Samuel Kupec from the Armada. The latest news is that he was moving his extremities, which is a good sign, but we don't know more than that."

It's never easy to watch young players get hurt while playing the game, especially when they stay still on the ice for a long time and can't exit the rink on their own.

Kupec was eligible to be selected in the last NHL draft but wasn't picked by any teams. This season, the 6-foot-2, 212-pound defenseman scored four points, all assists, in 19 games with the Armada.

Also, he notably took part in the 2023 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, where he scored one goal in four games.

Stay tuned for further updates on Kupec's health.
