Toronto Maple Leafs forward Ryan Reaves is facing a potentially long suspension tonight after a dirty hit on Darnell Nurse.

Reaves, known for his physical play style, caught the Oilers defenseman up high with a hit during the second period tonight in Toronto, immediately causing a stoppage in play. After a short review, the referees gave the Leafs enforcer a major and match penalty for the hit.

Now Reaves will almost certainly be getting a call from the Department of Player Safety tomorrow morning. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed that Nurse will not return to the game for Edmonton, which will contribute to the decision as well.

You know it is bad when even fans of the team you play for think you just did a dirty move. One Leafs fan called the hit 'garbage.'

Jesse Blake, a Toronto area sports reporter known for his coverage of the Leafs also admitted that Reaves deserves a suspension for the play.

One fan joked that the Leafs should be punished by being forced to play Reaves in every game for the rest of the season. Reaves has just a single assist through 15 games this year and is averaging just over 8 minutes of ice time per game.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow to see what Reaves' fate will be. We very well could see the longest suspension of the season handed out.
