The Ottawa Senators have struggled for consistency this season, and now NHL media personality Paul Bissonnette has called the team out.
Through 16 games this season, the Ottawa Senators sit at 8-7-1, and with great goaltending and a deep, talented group, there's confidence that they can get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
However, not everyone is that optimistic about their chances, with one of the biggest names in hockey media recently calling them out on social media after their defeat of 'his' Toronto Maple Leafs.
"Senators fans treating a 3-0 win against the Leafs on an off night as a Stanley Cup victory, to then blow a lead to the Flyers last night is peak Sens Nation Stuff. Who are the Senators? Does anyone know? Do they know? I'll hang up & listen. I know 1 thing. Leafs (Kings) of Ontario."
Although Biz is quite a character and is clearly playing into it here, his criticism is more than fair, as the Senators have struggled to follow up big victories with other wins, and until they can find that consistency, this is a team that will always have question marks over them.
After the comments, Bissonnette announced that he would be filling in for Kevin Bieksa on Hockey Night in Canada, looking to give the show the major shot in the arm that they need as many believe the show has become quite stale in recent years.
With the talent on the ice, it's about time for the Senators to finally put things all together, and after disappointing in recent years, their start to the season has shown that they may be able to make the leap in 2024/25.
Only time will tell however, and after years of disappointment, the fans are definitely wary about getting their hopes too high, so keep a close eye on this team as they look to fix their issues and finally make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
