The Montreal Canadiens have some highly intriguing prospects, with goaltender Jacob Fowler one of the most promising after the former third-round pick posted a .926 save percentage and a 2.14 GAA in 39 games for Boston College a year ago.
The new season has been even better for the Florida native, as he has posted a 1.56 GAA and a .950 save percentage through his first eight games, giving the Canadiens something to look forward to in net for a long time to come.
Unfortunately, he's now found himself in some hot water after he landed a punch on a UConn player following the dramatic goal that led the Huskies to a major upset over BC.
Now, the 19-year-old has officially learned his fate, as the NCAA announced that he would be suspended for just one game for his act, with the decision dividing fans on social media.
On one hand, that's a simple night off for a goaltender who can't play in every single game, but on the other hand, it's now a mark against his character that he'll need to overcome moving forward, so it's safe to say that it was probably the right decision.
On the ice, it's clear that Fowler is incredibly talented and is playing at an elite level against some very good competition, but now that he has this on his reputation, we will see how the organization handles this.
Ultimately, talent and results trump all in the NHL, so this probably isn't going to be a permanent stain against his name, but if this type of incident happens again, Montreal could have a problem on its hands.
